DUBHGHLAS

A dual citizen of the United States and Republic of Ireland, Dubhghlas (pronounced Dove-Gloss) was formally trained at an early age and rediscovered his passion for visual art while living in Dublin, Ireland and traveling throughout Europe.

Dubhghlas' approach to his art is at times whimsical, which can be seen in works like Blue Trousers with Belt. But more often than naught, he prefers to pose poignant questions to the observer than attempt to provide answers.

Like most artists, he strives to communicate through his paintings, exploring the human condition and spirituality in works such as Not So Divine Intervention, Roof Top Thinker, Shades of Faith, and others, but has no inclination or intention to one day become a bloody postman.

"A little subtlety and nuance go a long way, and there's room for people to use their imaginations when viewing my work without me blatantly spelling it out for them," states Dubhghlas.

Dubhghlas continues, "My primary motive as an artist isn't to make an intentional commentary on the times we live in, but if and when that does happen, it's more of an artistic instinct, because the nature of the artist is inquisitive, which leads us to ask questions."

When asked why he is involved with The Art of Helping Others, Dubhghlas states, "It's natural as artists to pour everything into our art, but we shouldn't stop there. We should give something back. By all means, pour yourself into your art, but pour yourself into others' lives. Both, I have discovered are exercises in faith."

Dubhghlas and his wife Michele lived in Dublin, Ireland for a number of years, but now reside in the southwestern part of the United States. They own a Jeep but not a dog. If they did own a dog, they would probably name him something creative like Spot or Fido.
